Bio:

I grew up making-up my own worlds full of magic kingdoms, monsters, and mysteries. I ran away to these places as an escape from dealing with my mother's mental illness.

Now, I find power in being able to merge the sparkly with the ugly -- The painful with the magical. I like blood and glitter and glam and gore and horrible beauty.

I write because I love stories. A good story allows us to empathize with people I've never met and to connect with strangers over things that never really happened.

Being a human is really hard -- It's lonely and existentially terrifying. Telling stories helps me connect with people who feel the way I do.

After graduating with my MFA in Screenwritng from NYU Tisch, I moved out to Los Angeles where I spent a couple years working for a non-profit called WordTheatre.

We would bring celebrities go into Title I schools to read and talk to the kids. It was powerful, heartwarming work, but made it hard to afford luxuries like rent and food.

Now, I work as Chief of Staff for a creative movie design and graphics agency/ printshop. I love my job because it allows me to be close to the films I love, but also gives me time to read scripts and work on my own writing.

But the main thing that's helped me put down roots in LA is my two Writer Groups-- They keep me motivated and working to be better.
